Meeting Members:
Over a cup of coffee with Tuan Loc Commodities

GCP welcomes Tuan Loc Commodities to the membership community! In this Meeting Members feature, GCP learns more about the company’s sustainability goals and we find out how the new member is looking to work with and through GCP to achieve these.

Tuan Loc Commodities (TLC) is an exporting company that specializes in green coffee merchandising. We seek to become the most competitive and efficient player in the tree-to-boat coffee supply chain in Vietnam, bridging the gaps between Vietnam coffee farmers and the global coffee industry in terms of timing, quality, logistics, and finance in a sustainable way. We aim to do this by attracting, growing, and retaining local talents, employing analytics in a truly data-driven environment, and deploying the latest suitable technologies to our core activities.

“Sustainability” is not just a catchy buzzword at Tuan Loc Commodities. It is ingrained in our corporate DNA. From the inception of our company strategy, sustainability has been a guiding principle in every one of our strategic decisions. We believe in building a future where the growth of our business goes hand in hand with the well-being of the planet and its people. By adopting sustainable practices in sourcing, processing, and distribution, we are actively contributing to the preservation of the environment and the livelihoods of every individual in our supply chain. For us, sustainability is not a checkbox; it is a commitment to creating a positive impact that resonates across borders.

“At Tuan Loc Commodities, we strive every day to take sustainability matters into our own hands, as we believe one does not have to engage in grand, heroic actions to participate in change” – Nguyen Duc Tuan Vinh, Managing Director of Tuan Loc Commodities.

We understand that the social and environmental changes required to meet the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) cannot be achieved by anyone, business or stakeholder acting alone. Government, business, and society, and each of us as individuals have both a stake and an impact in this global effort.

The GCP’s emphasis on fostering collaboration among diverse stakeholders in the coffee sector, including producers, traders, and roasters, resonates with our values. We believe that by becoming a part of this global initiative, we can contribute to and benefit from the exchange of knowledge, best practices, and innovative solutions that promote the long-term viability of the coffee industry.

Therefore, as we are working to define the concrete objectives of the SDGs in the Vietnamese coffee industry context and build those objectives into our action plan in the future, we want to implement the Coffee Sustainability Reference Code and the Sustainability Framework as the guidelines for our approaches.

The GCP’s focus on environmental stewardship, social inclusion, and economic viability aligns seamlessly with our own aspirations to create positive impacts at every stage of the coffee supply chain. By joining the GCP, we have great opportunities to work towards promoting sustainability in the entire coffee supply chain together with other members and the GCP itself. In the long run, we target to mitigate carbon emissions and foster a culture of social and environmental responsibility.

Small acts, when multiplied by millions of people, can transform the world. At the end of the day, we want to leave the world better than we found it.

This contribution forms part of a series called Meeting Members.
