Last week in Seattle more than 13,000 people from every aspect of the coffee world converged to attend the SCA Global Specialty Coffee Expo, and GCP members were there in force.
It was inspiring to witness our members promoting GCP’s vision to create a thriving, resilient coffee world. It was promising to tap into the groundswell of interest in GCP’s unique member association focus to work collectively on resolving the daunting coffee sustainability challenges of our time.
Considering that over 25 million coffee farmer families worldwide earn a living from coffee, cooperating to make coffee the world’s first sustainable agricultural commodity is of paramount importance. Global Coffee Platform members are on the front lines of this critical challenge. We look forward to sharing news on sector advances, innovations and fresh partnerships over the coming months.
We know it is through cooperating – not just competing – that we will be able to implement imaginative, wide-scale sustainable business practices to strengthen coffee farming families around the world as well as bolster partners throughout the industry.
It was a privilege to see so many GCP members in Seattle. If you were not there in person this time, please know your fellow members were there representing you strongly. We are all working to make a difference. So wherever you may be, thank you for being a member of the Global Coffee Platform!
