The GCP Member Assembly will be a gathering of the GCP community with national and international coffee sector stakeholders and sustainability experts, providing you with the opportunity to learn, exchange and create. And your participation is key!

The GCP Member Assembly is made up of two parts: one in-person event taking place in Basel, Switzerland, 24+25 June 2025, and the second part taking place on 4 December 2025 online. Board elections will take place in December.

This year’s theme is “Growing our Coffee Sustainability Footprint – in a changing landscape”, and connects our work from across the platform throughout the year, contributing to our 2030 goal of farmer prosperity. In this year’s assembly, we look at ways in which you can work with and through GCP to expanding your positive sustainability impact.

Participation at the GCP Member Assembly 2025 is exclusive to GCP Members only. Tickets are free for up to two representatives per GCP Member and one for individual members. Registration closed on 16 June 2025.

Join the GCP Member community to advance meaningful ways and tools to grow your coffee sustainability footprint through GCP Collective Action. Fortify collaboration in turbulent times and tackle the challenges ahead of us, from lack of farmer prosperity despite market heights, continuing climate and biodiversity crises to new regulations and geopolitical uncertainties, and help chart the way forward on farmer prosperity and coffee sustainability.

This year’s GCP Member Assembly will be held at the Basel’s Markthalle (Market Hall). The unique venue was built in 1929 and used as a market up until 2004. With its distinctive dome – the third largest of its kind at the time of construction – the venue today is a food hall and cultural venue.

Whether by train, tram or bike – the market hall is very easy to reach. The SBB train station is a two-minute walk away. The “Markthalle” tram station has a high frequency of services with lines 1, 2, 16 and 8. There is a bike parking area at the entrance towards Heuwaage and parking is available. Turbulent geopolitics, global trade shifts, and extreme climate events have upended “normal” for the coffee sector. How are GCP Members collectively rising to meet shared challenges in unprecedented times? 

The panel will explore the pressing themes of our changing landscape and the opportunity for enhanced GCP Collective Action to drive sustainability progress and resilience for the coffee sector in uncertain times.

This panel will explore our shared responsibility to expand production and uptake of sustainable coffees in the global marketplace supported by the Coffee Sustainability Reference Code, Equivalence Mechanism, and the annual GCP Report on Sustainable Coffee Purchases. How far have we come and what fresh opportunities should we examine to improve and expand the utility and value of GCP’s collective Sustainable Sourcing advantages?

Situated just 8 kilometers from EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg, the central Radisson Blu Hotel, Basel offers an ideal location. The main train station in the city, Bahnhof Basel SBB, is just 650 meters (a 5-minute walk) away from the Radisson Blu Hotel. The walking distance to the Markthalle is just 400 metres.

Grosspeterstrasse 12, 4052 Basel, Switzerland

This budget hotel is a minute’s walk from the Grosspeterstrasse tram stop. The Markthalle can be reached via public transport in around 15 minutes or on foot (1,2 km, approximately 15-20 minutes).

Featuring wood furnishings, the streamlined rooms offer complimentary Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and en suite bathrooms, as well as air-conditioning. Some come with bunk beds and/or in-room sinks.

Breakfast and parking are available.

Set along a major thoroughfare, this straightforward hotel in a modern building is a 12-minute walk from the Basel SBB train station. The Markthalle can be reached via public transport in around 15 to 20 minutes or on foot (1,3 km, approximately 20 minutes).

The contemporary, colorful rooms come with free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs.

Airport

If you are travelling by air, you can reach the city via EuroAirport or nearby Zurich Airport..

Officially, it lies in France, almost on the borderline with Switzerland. Basel constitutes the nearest city (only 3,5km away). 

Airport transfer to Basel city by bus

Line 50: EuroAirport – Bahnhof SBB (Basel railway station)

The bus no. 50 operates between the airport and one of the two main railway stations in Basel (SBB and Basel Badischer Bahnhof), providing direct access to the city. The ride takes about 20 minutes. The price for a single ticket is CHF4.70 or the equivalent in euros. It runs daily.

Airport transfer by tram

Line 2: EuroAirport – Basel exhibition center – BadischerBahnhof (German railway station)

Line no.2 provides access to the exhibition center in downtown and on to the BadischerBahnhof (the German railway station in Basel). The price is the same as for the bus line – CHF4.70 for a regular ticket and CHF3.10 for a discount one.

Airport transfer by taxi

The local taxi drivers at the airport usually use a taximeter to calculate the cost of your journey. However, the drivers often give a set-rate fare for the ride to downtown Basel. You can expect a taxi from Basel Airport to the city center to cost €45 (CHF 50). The ride to the city will take around 15 minutes.

Direct train connections to Basel: Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) connects the airport to Basel. The timetable and tickets can be found here.

Expect a travel time to Basel of approx. 75 minutes

Public Transport

By rail:
Basel has three railway stations: the Swiss Railway station (SBB), the French Railway station (SNCF) and the Badische Bahnhof, operated by German Railway (DB). All of them are conveniently located in the heart of the city. You find the various rail timetables here.

At SBB you also find a shopping centre (including pharmacies, restaurants, take-aways, service companies and various other outlets) which is open 365 days a year.

The hotels we listed are all located close to the meeting venue – most of them are just a short walk away.

Public transport:

Basel has an extensive tram and bus network. You find timetables and ticket information here as well as a map showing the route network.

Taxi:

Taxis are available and most Basel taxi drivers accept card payments.

Uber:

There is also Uber in Basel.  The Uber app gives you the power to request a ride to get around Basel anytime, 24/7.

Walking:

Generally, Basel is a walkable city. Many places of interest are close to one another.

Visa Info

General

GCP advises all GCP Members to check their individual status to travel to Switzerland, allowing sufficient time for any necessary applications. Switzerland is not part of the EU but does belong to the Schengen area.

Note that depending on the time of year/type of visa, the visa application process can take several weeks or even months. For a Schengen visa, the visa application can be submitted no earlier than six months before the planned entry into the Schengen area.

To enable maximum participation at the GCP Member Assembly 2025, GCP offered a limited number of Travel and Accommodation Subsidies for GCP members belonging to the Producer and Civil Society stakeholder groups located in coffee producing countries.

Health Info

Covid-19

Currently, there are no Covid-19 restrictions in Switzerland. If you are exhibiting any signs of illness, please be considerate to fellow participants and follow best practice in public spaces.

Healthcare in Switzerland

Both private and public hospitals, clinics, dispensaries, pharmacies, and other centers are available for your health and medical needs. Remember to obtain international medical insurance for your travels and entire period of stay in Switzerland.

Confirming your participation

If you have registered but can no longer attend, please change your registration status via the confirmation email sent to you when you first registered. Alternatively, please send an email to GCP before 16 June 2025. 

To ensure the sustainability of this event, GCP Members who fail to cancel their tickets by 16 June 2025 will receive an invoice for $250.

Dietary restrictions

Please record your dietary restrictions in the registration form. We will notify the caterers accordingly. We will do our best to make accommodations, but may not be able to in some cases. 

Antitrust Agreement

All participants of the GCP Member Assembly agree to the anti-trust regulations as laid out by GCP:

There shall be no discussions of agreements or concerted actions that may restrain competition. This prohibition includes discussions of current or future prices, margins, discounts, the timing of price changes, costs, capacities, customers, suppliers, product and marketing plans, sales projections, credit terms, or other competitively sensitive information relating to your business. We must also not talk about agreements to fix prices, control sales or the output of production, allocate markets, or refusing to deal with a particular entity.

The discussion or exchange on these topics must not only be avoided during this meeting but also during all informal gatherings when competitors may be present. Each meeting participant is obliged to speak up immediately for the purpose of preventing any discussion falling outside these bounds.

This agreement applies to in-person events as well as meetings or events held virtually.
