Coffee is one of the most traded and consumed commodities in the world – around 125 million people depend on coffee for their livelihoods. Whilst actions have been taken over several decades to address sustainability challenges in coffee exporting countries, they have rarely succeeded in creating sector-wide, lasting change. For this reason, within the International Coffee Organization’s (ICO) Coffee Public Private Task Force (CPPTF), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Global Coffee Platform (GCP) facilitated a multi-stakeholder dialogue series in 2021 on sector transformation in coffee exporting countries, which focused on the creation or strengthening of multi-stakeholder processes and spaces to foster collaborative action.
This 60-minute learning event, hosted in collaboration with the Food and Agricultural Commodity Systems Community, is an opportunity to explore the key insights from the accompanying report, and some questions raised with expert voices from the coffee sector such as:
