Brazil: Further training on the Coffee Sustainability Curriculum in Rondônia and Minas Gerais

It was time for Rondônia to join the Advanced Training on the CSC organized in partnership with EMATER-RO.
The training started in Ouro Preto do Oeste city with a discussion on the main challenges and opportunities related to the coffee production in the State. On the second day, the group headed to Alvorada do Oeste city, where they visited a familiar group known as “Os Baianos” for a technical visit and field practices. During one exercise the implementation of the 18 Fundamental Items of the CSC in the property were evaluated by all technicians, generating high-level discussions.
The training was very well evaluated, with a participative structure and highly interested technicians. Other GCP partners like EMBRAPA, SEBRAE, SENAR, Secretary of Agriculture and IDARON also participated and contributed.
The Federal University of Jequitinhonha and Mucuri Valleys (UFVJM, Diamantina) and UNA (Bom Despacho) hosted the Training Course on the Coffee Sustainability Curriculum. The courses saw future agronomists getting prepared for the economic, environmental and social cares and responsibilities on coffee production.
The cities of Vitória da Conquista, Barra da Estiva, Piatã and Seabra were part of the route of GCP in Bahia state. Institutions like the Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service (Sebrae), the Federal Institute of Bahia (IFBA) and the Coop of Organic and Biodynamic Producers of Chapada Diamantina (Cooperbio) received GCP representatives in order to better understand our activities and join efforts on coffee sustainability.
