Mario works as GCP Senior Manager of Sustainable Sourcing, overseeing the Coffee Sustainability Reference Code, the Equivalence Mechanism, and the Collective Reporting on Sustainable Coffee Purchases by roasters and retailers.

He brings over 12 years of experience in the coffee sector with the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia (FNC), where he was responsible for the area of sustainable trade. He led the formulation, management, and evaluation of sustainability projects with clients and international cooperation, aimed at strengthening the supply chain and the conditions of Colombian coffee growers. Mario also led the expansion of certified and verified areas under different sustainability schemes. Additionally, he participated in defining the Federation’s strategy and in creating processes and monitoring models for the commercial area.

Previously, he worked with the Ministries of Agriculture and Commerce in Colombia, promoting agricultural sectors and the national strategy for animal and plant health. He also worked with the Mayor’s Office of Bogotá, Colombia, in formulating international cooperation projects.

Mario is an economist from the Universidad de Los Andes, Colombia, holds a diploma in finance and an MBA from the same university, and a Master’s in Global Management from Tulane University in New Orleans. He is fluent in Spanish and English and is based in Bogotá, Colombia.
