Student Assistant Data Management (m/f)

The Global Coffee Platform is recruiting for a Student Assistant (studentische Aushilfe) to provide support to its Secretariat and Team in Bonn in its broad range of activities!


The Global Coffee Platform (GCP) is an inclusive multi-stakeholder sustainability platform aligning the activities of a diverse network of stakeholders to set into action the global commitments and create a thriving and sustainable coffee sector. The GCP also supports the use of the Baseline Common Code, a set of globally referenced baseline principles and practices for coffee production and processing. Through the support of this reference code, the GCP aims to enable sector-wide adoption of minimum sustainability requirements.

The Global Coffee Platform develops and maintains an interactive online database called GCP Connect that provides various information resources to its members and is looking for a Student Assistant to actively support its maintenance, data-feeding and possibly user support.

Main functions and responsibilities

  • Internet research on available information, identification of data sources;
  • Data upload and tagging;
  • Liaising with stakeholders on data resources;
  • Performing other assignments/special projects as necessary;
  • User support.

Profile and qualifications

  • The candidate should be currently enrolled at university (BA or MA or Diploma) in economics, social or agricultural sciences or related field.
  • Strong affinity to information technology and databases;
  • Extraordinary level of accuracy;
  • Readiness to undertake repetitive tasks;
  • Pro-active working style with the ability to work independently and a high level of ownership for the task;
  • Basic understanding of agricultural supply chains and rural development;
  • Sound knowledge of English (verbal/written), knowledge of other “coffee languages” (Spanish, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Indonesian, French) is an additional asset;
  • Ability to effectively and appropriately communicate with stakeholders in an international environment.

  • Location: Bonn, Germany
  • Period of employment: 1 September 2017 until 31 December 2017 (with the possibility of extension)
  • Working hours: 8 hours per week
  • Remuneration: 12,00 € gross per hour
